A fabulous two days at the Suffolk Show with our pop-up museum entirely dedicated to the WLA in Suffolk, complete with wonderful helpers and living historians who engaged with the public all day long.

The weather was changeable on the first day and kept us on our toes in between dodging showers and holding things down in the gusts of wind that blew in from nowhere, but it didn't stop the crowds who kept us busy both days with their questions and stories of land girl memories.

The highlight of the second day was, of course, being able to take 'Daphne', the Fordson Standard N, into the closing parade in the Grand Ring where the Land Army got a special mention in the VE/VJ commemorations. The Suffolk crowds were very appreciative with big cheers and rounds of applause.

We were delighted that Desi (daughter of Daphne Scarff) was able to join us at the Suffolk Show. She really entered into the spirit of the occasion and can be seen posing here with 'Daphne 'in her authentic working kit. Daphne was a ratcatcher for the Women's Land Army in Devon and Suffolk so it seemed appropriate for Desi to be posing with a rat and a copy of 'The Making of a Land Girl' that she had had published based upon her mother's early life and service in the WLA.

We would like to thank the Suffolk Agricultural Association and, in particular, John and Richard Taylor for inviting The Suffolk Women's Land Army Memorial Trust to take part in the VE/VJ commemorative event at the Suffolk Show this year. We had a tremendous time and were very proud to be on parade at the Show. It was also wonderful to meet so many members of the public with stories about members of their families who served in the Women's Land Army in Suffolk.
